Jeremiah 32:6–15 (KJV)
Discovery

So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:

Jerusalem was under siege, and Jeremiah was confined in the court of the prison (verses 1–2). In that setting, his cousin Hanameel offered him a field at Anathoth. Jeremiah bought it, weighed out seventeen shekels of silver, signed and sealed the purchase document, and took witnesses (verses 8–10).
Verse 11 distinguishes what was sealed from what was open. Jeremiah handed the purchase evidence to Baruch in the presence of Hanameel, the subscribing witnesses and the Jews sitting in the prison court. The transaction was witnessed; the record was then entrusted to someone else.
The purpose of the vessel is explicit: “that they may continue many days” (verse 14). The next verse explains why records of this purchase mattered despite the siege: the LORD said that houses, fields and vineyards would again be possessed in that land.
The text gives the documents’ condition and the storage instruction. It does not supply their complete wording, tell us the vessel’s shape or material beyond being earthen, or establish that a particular surviving artefact is Jeremiah’s container. An illustration of these objects is a reconstruction, not evidence of their actual appearance.
This purchase belongs to Jeremiah’s prophetic sign of future restoration for Judah. It is not a promise that buying property during a crisis will make a modern investor prosper.
